Christian Music Weekly

How is CMW different from all the
other charting publications publications?

  1. Christian Music Weekly contains more data on each line of every chart.
  2. The data is accurate. Radio stations and programs enter their reports and check their work. The managers at CMW do not even look at the data, unless the system flags an entry for spelling, duplicates, or out of standard range. CMW takes an official attitude of non-interest.
  3. CMW does not hold itself to be the policemen of the charts. The charts are never censored. There is no misguided attempt to "protect a format" that has been common in other publications.
  4. CMW considers radio stations to be the gatekeepers. Every reporting station and program pledges to supply only accurate data.
  5. CMW doesn't have to open a "slot" (like the worlds largest charting magazine) before the spins can be counted. The moment a song is reported, it's in the database. It's automatic.
  6. While the worlds largest charting magazine will sell you the complete rotational data that a station (of your choice) is playing, CMW doesn't consider this ethical. Your specific, exact details of your report is proprietary. Reporters can share the actual report, but we won't.
  7. CMW will not bring on reporting stations that aren't arms-length from artists, promoters, or family of such.
  8. Christian and Gospel music have had a history of dishonest reputation of censoring, cheating and efforts to manipulate how the charts will turn out. CMW pledges never to conduct itself in a similar manner.
  9. The participating reporting stations and programmers understand that everyone's honesty and integrity is on the line. Should a reporter submit a false report, both the station, and the individual will be banned for life. It's great to tell you that in the past 25 years, we've never had to ban a reporter. But this one rule seems to be the rule that stops stations from joining the reporting panels.
