How would you respond to this ad?

MEN WANTED
for hazardous journey, small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful, honor and recognition in case of success. Ernest Shackleton  4 Burlington St.
The first time I ever saw the ad, my response was "Sign me up!" I wouldn't be the first person to feel that way.
There's some doubt that the ad is real, but the story behind it is absolute truth. In 1914, Ernest Shackleton and his crew set out on a voyage to cross the continent of Antartica - a dangerous mission in its own right - but wound up shipwrecked and alone at the bottom of the world. The men faced a hazardous journey and safe return was doubtful, but in 1917, Shackleton and his entire crew made it safely home where they received honor and recognition.
Why talk about Ernest Shackleton? Because his was a dangerous story. Not just because of the adventures he lived, but by the lives he inspired because of his story. Shackleton continues to inspire leaders today.
Sometimes I wish I had a story as dangerous as Ernest Shackleton's. I think we all wish the same.
Here's the kicker: We are part of a story even more dangerous and more powerful. It's a life-and-death story of a hazardous journey and constant danger. It's a story that continues to inspire today.
Are we dangerous enough to tell it? Would we run such a dangerous invitation as:
PEOPLE WANTED for hazardous journey...
Dare ya.
