How long is a Facebook post? A couple of sentences? A link? Does it really matter? How long are your bits on air? Thirty seconds? A minute? Does it really matter? (To an extent, yes. As your PD reminds you, every second matters.) But whether it's sentences or seconds, those bits and pieces matter. Why? Because they're the little stories that make up the big picture of our lives. Media - whether micro-media (Facebook) or macro-media (Radio, TV, Print) - give us channels to tell our stories. And as media continues to multiply, the true winners will be the ones who best tell all of our little stories. How good are you at paying attention to the little things? How good are you at telling those little stories? Start noticing the little stories. Start sharing them with your listeners. People long to be noticed, and they want someone who cares about and celebrates their little triumphs and disappointments. It's always the little things that make the biggest difference. Invest in the big picture by starting with something small. Like a couple of sentences or a few seconds. Life is built on little things. |
